Definition of Dielectric Strength
Defined as the ultimate voltage per unit thickness when the medium is broken down by current, it is a measure of the electric strength of a material when it acts as an insulator, expressed as volts per unit thickness.
Determination method: Usually a short time method is used, and the voltage applied between the two electrodes rises at the same rate from zero until the medium is broken down.
Unit: kV/mm, V/mil conversion: 1 kV/mm=25.374 V/mil
